Our story
The schoolhouse is our home.

Heidi and I live in the old schoolhouse in Latah, just south of Spokane. We are working to keep from losing it. This page is the start of that story.
We also open the schoolhouse as a Christmas gift shop for local families. The gifts are free. They come from community donations, and families come in and pick out a gift for their own family. See the gift shop.
I spent more than 20 years leading enterprise IT. I now run ImpactMe.AI from this building. The public account of that business says it is family-run, in its third year, and was started so smaller businesses could put AI to work, not only large companies. That page is the business. This page is the barn raising for our home.
For months we have been working through roof damage, an insurance claim, canceled insurance, and now a repair contract with costs we do not yet know how to cover. I cannot carry all of this by myself, and I do not have the money to make every problem disappear. But I believe God can help me find a path I cannot see yet. The words that keep coming back to me are “Fear not.”
My faith in Jesus Christ is central to this journey. Whatever your beliefs, you are welcome to be part of it.
I work with AI every day, and I keep thinking: let AI be AI, let machines be machines, and let humans be human. For me, being human means noticing when somebody is struggling, caring about them, and finding something we can do. I hope what we build here can eventually help other people who find themselves stuck. For now, we start with this family, this schoolhouse, and the next step.
We will share the progress, the setbacks, and what we learn. We are not publishing the street address, project costs, or details of contracts and insurance. Family details stay private unless we choose to share them.
